Acclaimed Dutch designer Alissia Melka-Teichroew playfully challenges this assumption, literally turning the common knowledge of what a drinking glass should look like on its head. In byAMT's collection of barware, the well known iconic shapes of glasses are hidden behind a neutral and discreet outer shape, unassuming and simple. But once you pour the drink, the glass' inner identity appears, creating an unusual and highly fascinating effect.
What inspired Melka-Teichroew’s topsy-turvy approach? She began by contemplating the age-old question: is the glass half full or half empty? Melka-Teichroew’s concept took years of research, elabortate model-making, and testing, before the InsideOut’s debut at the 2007 International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City.
The InsideOut glasses are not only fun and stylish, they boast some practical advantages, too: the double-walled glass provides insulation, keeping beverages cold for much longer than conventional barware.
